5th Socio-economic Survey 2017

The Health & Environment Survey

Our aim in this study was to produce information and evidence in many health and environmental aspects. We not only want to monitor the prevalence of chronic diseases, or different environmental hazards facing Palestinians in Israel today, but also aim to address aspects that were not addressed in previous surveys. These topics include accessibility to health services and the evaluation of these services by individuals, an individual’s knowledge of health and their personal enlightenment when they learn about health. Furthermore, we intended to focus on awareness of health rights as well as the health behaviors that were influenced by numerous different factors, and self- health assessment, in addition to general health literacy and environmental rights.

The report was comprised of eleven chapters. The first chapter contains the introduction and structure. The second chapter refers to the methodology used in planning and implementing the survey. The third chapter provides a list of the concepts and definitions used in the survey.

Chapters 4-11 contain the main findings of the survey in the fields of demographic; economic and social situation; health status; health behaviors and risk factors; health services; evaluation of health services, knowledge and health literacy; alternative medicine and environmental status. The main results the report are presented tables.

3rd Socio-Economic Survey 2010

Executive Summary

The Third Socio-Economic Survey is a continuation of the efforts of the Galilee Society – The Arab National Society for Health Research and Services, to gather information and conduct socio-economic surveys about the Palestinians in Israel and monitor our social and economic reality as groups and individuals; we believe that information and accurate data are crucial for the process of growth and development in all its forms.

Our conviction that we, the Palestinian society in Israel, should produce our own data and study our own community is at the core of this survey; we believe that our people should monitor their own socio-economic and political reality and development from their own perspective and according to the priorities set by them as a struggling ethnic community living on its national land, striving to build a stable and dignified existence based on justice and equality as the means to achieve communal and individual rights.
